    Acolytes

Adults and children, ages six and older whom have been baptized are welcome to become acolytes. Training is required for each "level" and is scheduled as needed.

    • Crucifer: Carries the Crucifer Cross during Processional and Recessional, and also for the Gospel Procession at times. Assists Rector with communion preparation at the Altar and clean up following. Crucifers whom are not confirmed are unable to assist with communion.
    • Torch Bearer: Teamed with another acolyte, carries the torch during Processional and Recessional. Flanks the Gospel Book during the reading of the Gospel. Lights Altar candles before service and extinguishes candles following the service.
    • Book Bearer: Carries the Gospel Book in the Processional and Recessional. Holds the Gospel Book during reading. Collects Offertory Plates from the Ushers during the Offertory Hymn and presents them to the Rector. In the absence of Torch Bearers, lights the Altar candles before the service and extinguishes them after the service.
    • Junior Acolytes: Carry lectern and pulpit banners during the Processional, Gospel reading and Recessional.
